On May 18, 2020 the seniors and alumni of Andover Vocal Music performed their 2020 Spring Showcase/Alumni Cabaret. The event was complete with over 40 graduating seniors and alumni members of the program and over 20 performances. The program included a final showing of each of the 2020 Andover show choir sets and a new song featuring our seniors and alumni in the finale performance. Darvin Hernandez was the charming Master of Ceremonies and our guide throughout the evening.
The Andover High School Vocal Music Program includes three competitive show choirs: From Start to Finish, Nothin’ But Treble, and Back-to-Bass-ics. The program receives significant financial support from the Andover Vocal Music Association(AVMA), a parent booster non-profit organization, and from the New England Show Choir Showdown (NESCS) competition festival. Due to the growing crisis around COVID-19, NESCS and several other upcoming fundraisers have been permanently canceled resulting in a huge loss in potential revenue for the Andover Vocal Music Program budget. We estimate the program will end up being short approximately $10,000 of our 2019-20 budgeted income and this deficit will impact 2020-21 program operations. AVMA established this GoFundMe to help close our financial gap.
In order to sustain the Andover Vocal Music programs, we are asking for donations from family, friends, and show choir fans. We do not have another way to recuperate the funds lost from these fundraisers. We want to be able to begin our 2020-21 program with enough money to purchase the licenses for the songs in our sets, our music arranger, costumes, and competition fees.
